CFA Society Los Angeles offers 4 types of Membership:

RegulaR:

Membership: Joint Membership with CFA Institute
Cost: $175 (+$299 for CFA Institute Membership)
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent education/work experience
- A Passing score for either the Level I of the CFA exam, Level II of the CIPM exam, RBA Netherlands Exam, or the self-administered Standards of Practice Exam (also known as the Ethics Exam)
- 4,000 hours of professional work experience (completed in a minimum of 36 months)
- 2 Professional References (if at least one is from a CFA Charterholder) or 3 Professional References
  - Make sure you remind your references to submit their referrals as soon as possible, to whitelist (or check spam/junk folder) for the domain @cfainstitute.org
  - Please note that if you have CFA Charterholders submitting references for you, please make sure they log into their CFA Institute account, otherwise when they submit their reference, they will not be listed as a CFA Charterholder and it may delay your application process.
- Maintain membership with CFA Institute

AssociatE:

Membership: CFA Society Los Angeles - Local Membership Only
Cost: $175 (or if Active CFA Candidate $50)
Qualifications:
- The interest to increase knowledge of investments and network with financial professionals
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent education/work experience
- Interests are closely aligned to the objectives of CFALA, or entry level individuals and support staff in the finance industry, or aspiring CFA Charterholders
- If you have passed Level II of the CFA Program, you must apply for Regular or Affiliate membership through CFA Institute
- If you are an ACTIVE candidate currently enrolled in the CFA Program Level I or Level II Exam, you may be eligible for a discounted rate of $50.

Student:

Membership: CFA Society Los Angeles - Local Membership Only
Cost: $50
Qualifications:
- Actively enrolled - either full-time or part-time - and in good standing with an Undergraduate or Graduate College or University
  - You will be required to submit an official or unofficial transcript. This transcript should include classes that you are currently enrolled in (to ensure that you are actively enrolled).
- If you have passed Level II of the CFA Program, you must apply for Regular or Affiliate membership through CFA Institute
- Student Memberships are restricted & are not eligible to attend select Member Only events

Membership Processing:

Due to the bylaws of the society, each member must be voted on and approved by the entire CFA Society Los Angeles board.
The board reviews all membership applications at the beginning of each month and decisions are distributed 10-15 days afterwards. Regular member will need to be approved by CFA Institute prior to CFA Society Los Angeles’ membership process. Regular and Affiliate members will be given temporary membership status approximately 3 business day of pending membership with CFA Society Los Angeles.

Membership Duration:

All Memberships expire on June 30th of the current fiscal year.
Associate and Student Members who apply after March 1^st, will have their membership expire on June 30^th of the next year.

Please note: CFALA Membership Dues are NOT Tax-deductible.
